So getting my backlog under control, I want to share with you an amazing tract I recently stumbled upon. Sadly, given human nature, we always need someone from side X to validate criticisms of X. General Smedley Butler was one of the most decorated war heroes of all times. So when he declares that war is an instrument to promote economic interests and not some noble endeavor, we all have to sit up and take notice. Butler's arguments are equally valid of the current war Bush wants to wage in Iraq (can you spell oil?). And it is true also of the warlords on both sides of the Israel-Palestine conflict.
